I've been listening to Nas' new album it's just straight fire!! On this one track, Nas opens by talking 'bout this one guy who had lost his son, and after cremating him he takes the ashes and makes it into a diamond ring so he can see his son shine everyday.
I just thought it was the coolest thing ever!! Then I realized that this is kinda like what God has done for us. God gives us his son Jesus, so His spirit can shine through us!! The guy in the story probably made the diamond so he can flash it like crazy in public, I mean, what would be the point if he was just planning on storing it at home. The diamond is made to commemorate someone precious to him, and sharing the joy that this someone brought him with the world (by blinding people with his fat rock when he walks by hahaha :P). We as Christians should be doing the same thing. What could we possibly have more precious than Jesus? If we're not gonna be flashing our diamond rings, what's the point of getting it in the first place? So we can admire it in private? I guess we could....we'd still have that person in our hearts, but I don't think that's what the Son would have wanted.
Our shine in Jesus Christ is unlimited, so there should be no reason why we'd hold back on blinding people all around us. People are gonna see this light and they're gonna wanna turn around and take another look, possibly even ask about it. This love we have in Jesus is gonna blind people and turn spines. Like all shiny things, they're gonna want one too, and when we tell them that they're free, they'd be stupid not to get one. We call this "word of mouth" in business, the most effective way of marketing!! I believe that God, the boss among bosses, has put us here on this earth to sell his amazing product by blinding people and breaking spines.
